At the recent U10 blitz held on Sunday June 17th in Ballyrickard four referees were contacted to come in and officiate the games, nothing unusual here, what was unusual was that all four were Ladies. Progress I here you say, so proud to see ladies taking control of their own game.
Sharon Roche (Na Gaeil), Ciara Ryan (Austin Stacks), Emma McCarthy (Austin Stacks) and Ashling Murphy (John Mitchels) all took charge of group games and really enjoyed the experience. This is huge for the progress of the game in the town of Tralee and for North Kerry Ladies Football in general, to know that girls who have played the game are interested enough in the game to move on and help with the development of the game is very encouraging.
Unfortunately with the general chaos of the event I did not get a photo of a really pivotal moment and this I regret but I am sure I will get another opportunity as all four were very efficient and kept the games rolling along while explained misdemeanours to their very young charges.
